Financial Valuation Manager – Los Angeles Office

Financial Valuation Manager – Los Angeles Office

Marshall & Stevens’ Los Angeles office has an open position for a full-time Manager in its West Region Financial Valuation and Consulting Practice. The Financial Valuation professionals provide financial advisory services to privately held and publicly-traded companies. Services include the valuation of businesses enterprises, debt and equity securities, equity as compensation, contingent claims and intangible assets for financial and tax reporting, solvency and fairness opinions, ESOPs, merger and acquisition advisory and litigation support, among other purposes.

The Manager will report directly to the West Region Practice Leader and be responsible for the analysis, review and oversight of valuation engagements, adherence to technical standards and procedures, quality control, coordination with other practice areas including real estate and machinery & equipment appraisal, and training and mentoring of financial staff.

The successful candidate will have experience in the valuation of businesses enterprises, debt and equity securities, equity as compensation, contingent claims and intangible assets for financial reporting (ASC 350, 360, 718, 805, 820 and 852), tax compliance and reporting, solvency and fairness opinions, ESOPs, merger and acquisition advisory and litigation support, among other purposes. Valuation of complex securities and derivatives a plus.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Act as Project Manager on specific assignments. Responsible for technical quality and client service, timely delivery of the report, professional performance, staff utilization and the profitability of the project.
  • Prepare analyses and reports in compliance with appropriate standards and best practices.
  • Ability to relate effectively with the client, his/her representatives and other professionals, including tax, audit and legal.
  • Understand and manage firm risk on projects. Understand purpose of assignment, represent M&S appropriately in front of clients and prospects, and notify sales staff when scope changes.
  • Provide sales support as required, including preparation of presentations.
  • Supervise, train and mentor Financial Staff and prepare performance reviews.


 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or Economics.
  • Minimum of four years progressive experience at an independent valuation firm, investment bank, or the valuation practice of an accounting firm.
  • Certification from CFA or ASA is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Excellent analytical, research, financial modeling and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Dedication to quality.
  • Strong leadership skills.
