The Real Estate Valuation Practice of Marshall & Stevens has experienced significant growth in the appraisal of institutional assets for debt and equity financing, financial reporting, tax reporting, bankruptcy, restructuring and recapitalization, and litigation support. Clients include private equity firms, REITS, pension funds, corporations, law firms, and financial institutions.

Our Heath Care Practice provides valuations to physicians, hospitals, and clinics. We are looking to add Senor Living to our portfolio of valuation services.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of appraisal reports on a local and national basis
  • Participate in mentoring junior RE staff members
  • Interact with other valuation groups on multi-discipline assignments
  • Represent M&S at meetings, as well as on calls and in correspondence with clients, potential clients and other potential or current referral sources
  • Become an integral part of our firm which has existing valuation practices in Cost Segregation, Financial Valuation, and Machinery & Equipment Valuation.
  • Work out of one of our four offices: Chicago, LA, New York, or Tampa.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Certified General Appraiser
  • MAI designation a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Experience in the valuation of senior housing and healthcare properties.
  • Advanced skills using Word, Excel, Argus Enterprise
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be committed to producing the highest quality appraisal reports; delivering on time, every time; with the highest level of client service

Marshall & Stevens’ has positions for full-time Associates in its Energy & Infrastructure Practice. The E&I team services independent energy project developers, sponsors, investors and advisors with the valuation of solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and other electricity energy generation projects.

The Associate will be responsible for working with a team to analyze market, income (DCF), and cost analyses. Report writing is part of the job duties.

For the past eight years, the Energy & Infrastructure practice at Marshall & Stevens has provided opinions of value for billions of dollars of project finance transactions, primarily in the renewable energy generation industry: solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, etc. We have also provided value opinions for conventional energy generation and distribution facilities, manufacturing plants, transportation and shipping assets.

The Energy & Infrastructure practice is one of seven practices within Marshall & Stevens: Financial, Healthcare, Machinery & Equipment, Real Estate, Cost Segregation, and Dispute Resolution and Litigation Support. Our professionals works collaboratively, across practices, as required, to meet the needs of our clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ideally, the candidate for this position will have five to seven years of experience in the valuation of asset-intensive entities that are financed by a sale/leaseback or tax equity investment. Industry experience should include energy generation and distribution. Client relationships and sales experience is a plus.

SUMMARY:

Project manage and serve in a senior technical role within Marshall & Stevens (“M&S”) such that a high-quality and profitable product is always being delivered to our clients. Train, manage and be a resource to staff in the Chicago office and in other M&S offices. Personally represent M&S to the public in such a way as to increase visibility and sales for M&S.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in a finance-related field (business, finance or economics) or a professional designation or certification such as an ASA or CFA is desired.

REQUIREMENTS:

Legal US citizen or resident, must be permitted to work and travel in the US without the need for a sponsor.

Must have excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

SUPERVISION:                    Supervise valuation team on a project basis.

DUTIES:                               The essential duties are:

  1. Be able to provide and support valuations for the project financing of renewable energy generation enterprises.
  2. For assignments where you are serving as Project Manager or as directed, lead the performance of valuation services, including client interaction, valuation analyses and preparation of deliverables, as well as the efficiency and profitability of valuation engagements.
  3. Be prepared to support valuation analyses and deliverables against inquiry from developers, investors and lenders, accounting, legal and tax advisors, and others as may be required.
  4. Assist in training and monitoring valuation staff on M&S’ policies and procedures and on valuation methods, techniques, theories, and standards.
  5. Assist SF practice leadership in training SF practice staff.
  6. On some occasions, represent M&S at in-person and virtual meetings, as well as on calls and in correspondence with clients, potential clients, transactions advisors and other potential or current referral sources
  7. Participate in weekly backlog sessions and other calls and meetings as required.
  8. Be a part of the greater Chicago office and the national M&S efforts to provide services to our clients and to sell our services. Work out of our Chicago office, and travel as necessary to service M&S clients and participate in M&S activities.
  9. Other duties as assigned by M&S management.

The Financial Valuation Practice of Marshall & Stevens is experiencing exciting growth focused on the valuations of privately held businesses, intangible assets, common and preferred stock, incentive units and convertible notes.  We perform these valuations for private equity firms, corporations, start-up companies, and law firms, among others, that primarily require these valuations for planning, financial reporting or advisory purposes.

Requirements

  • Master of Business Administration (preferred)

    and/or complex financial instruments
  • Experience with Option Pricing models, Monte Carlo simulation and Binomial Models
  • Excellent research, analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Proficient skills using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Prior experience with Crystal Ball, Moody’s Analytics, and other industry software (preferred)
