The Financial Valuation & Consulting practice provides independent valuation opinions to a diverse portfolio of public and private companies.  Most of our work is referred to us by attorneys, accountants, investors, and past clients who rely on the quality and integrity of our analyses. Many of our recent experienced hires are international audit firm alumni who are seeking a different experience.

Assignments include Fairness Opinions, Solvency Opinions, purchase price allocation and impairment testing, as well as the valuation of businesses, intangible assets, debt, and equity instruments.

QUALIFICATIONS:     Candidates should have valuation experience at a valuation firm or audit firm valuation practice in support of financial reporting, tax reporting, transaction advisory, or matters of dispute. The valuation of complex securities is a plus.

EDUCATION:               Bachelor’s degree in a finance-related field (business, finance, accounting, or economics) required. A Master’s degree or a professional designation or certification such as an ASA or CFA is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS:       Legal US citizen or resident – must be permitted to work and travel in the US without the need for a sponsor.

Must have excellent English verbal and written communication skills and the ability to commute or travel to one of our offices.

COMPENSATION:       Salaries range between $80,000 – $180,000 annually depending upon experience.

SUMMARY:

Marshall & Stevens Incorporated is an 88-year-old, independent national valuation consulting firm that specializes in the valuation of businesses, debt and equity securities and derivatives, and business assets (tangible and intangible) for financial and tax reporting, as well as transaction and litigation support, among other purposes.

Marshall & Stevens’ Chicago office has an open position for a part-time Intern in its Financial Valuation and Consulting Practice. The Financial Valuation professionals provide valuations of businesses, debt and equity securities, and intangible assets for a variety of purposes.

The Intern will be responsible for working with a team to analyze market, income and cost approaches to support the valuations of business, securities and intangible assets for our clients. The Intern will also support M&S’ Structured Finance Practice providing support for the valuation of electric generation traditional and renewable energy projects and assets. Report writing is part of the job duties.

 

DUTIES:

  • Assist associates and managers in developing valuation models, performing analytic research, and writing reports for our clients.
  • Analyze and input data from financial statements
  • Analyze legal documents such as operating and shareholder agreements
  • Collect, analyze and correlate data for valuation analysis purposes; as well as perform ancillary analysis of economic, industry and financial data
  • Maintain research data, files and databases

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • S. work authorization is required
  • Intermediate understanding of financial theory, business transactions and general accounting and tax issues
  • Analytical skills and the willingness to learn and execute supportable analyses

Job Description

JOB TITLE:                           Manager/Senior Manager

SALARY RANGE:                 $100-$160k base before bonuses

 

PRACTICE:                           Energy & Infrastructure

For the past eight years, the Energy & Infrastructure practice at Marshall & Stevens has provided opinions of value for billions of dollars of project finance transactions, primarily in the renewable energy generation industry: solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, etc. We have also provided value opinions for conventional energy generation and distribution facilities, manufacturing plants, transportation and shipping assets.

The Energy & Infrastructure practice is one of seven practices within Marshall & Stevens: Financial, Healthcare, Machinery & Equipment, Real Estate, Cost Segregation, and Dispute Resolution and Litigation Support. Our professionals works collaboratively, across practices, as required, to meet the needs of our clients.

Founded in 1932, Marshall & Stevens is one of the oldest and most respected independent valuation firms in the US. Our professionals provide valuation and consulting services to domestic and international clients including publicly-traded, privately-held and government sponsored entities in a great variety of industries.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ideally, the candidate for this position will have five to seven years of experience in the valuation of asset-intensive entities that are financed by a sale/leaseback or tax equity investment. Industry experience should include energy generation and distribution. Client relationships and sales experience is a plus.

SUMMARY:

Project manage and serve in a senior technical role within Marshall & Stevens (“M&S”) such that a high-quality and profitable product is always being delivered to our clients. Train, manage and be a resource to staff in the Chicago office and in other M&S offices. Personally represent M&S to the public in such a way as to increase visibility and sales for M&S.

DUTIES:                               The essential duties are:

  1. Be able to provide and support valuations for the project financing of renewable energy generation enterprises.
  2. For assignments where you are serving as Project Manager or as directed, lead the performance of valuation services, including client interaction, valuation analyses and preparation of deliverables, as well as the efficiency and profitability of valuation engagements.
  3. Be prepared to support valuation analyses and deliverables against inquiry from developers, investors and lenders, accounting, legal and tax advisors, and others as may be required.
  4. Assist in training and monitoring valuation staff on M&S’ policies and procedures and on valuation methods, techniques, theories, and standards.
  5. Assist SF practice leadership in training SF practice staff.
  6. On some occasions, represent M&S at in-person and virtual meetings, as well as on calls and in correspondence with clients, potential clients, transactions advisors and other potential or current referral sources
  7. Participate in weekly backlog sessions and other calls and meetings as required.
  8. Be a part of the greater Chicago office and the national M&S efforts to provide services to our clients and to sell our services. Work out of our Chicago office, and travel as necessary to service M&S clients and participate in M&S activities.
  9. Other duties as assigned by M&S management.
