Darin Van Wyk, CFA, ASA, is a Director for Marshall & Stevens Incorporated in San Antonio, Texas. He has been performing business valuation work since 2008 and has extensive experience providing valuations for a wide range of purposes, including estate and gift tax, mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, buy/sell agreements, and shareholder transactions.
Mr. Van Wyk’s technical expertise includes valuations related to estate and gift tax purposes, business combinations (ASC 805), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), goodwill impairment testing (ASC 350), long-lived asset impairment testing (ASC 360-10), and complex capital structures. His experience spans both closely held businesses and larger corporate enterprises across numerous industries.
He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute and is an active member of the CFA Society. Mr. Van Wyk also holds the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation in Business Valuation and currently serves as Treasurer and Secretary of the local ASA chapter. He has completed advanced intangible asset valuation coursework (BV301 and BV302) through the American Society of Appraisers.
Prior to joining Munroe, Park & Johnson, Inc., Mr. Van Wyk led the Iowa valuation services practice at McGladrey (now RSM US LLP). In addition to his client work, he is a contributing author for PPC’s Guide to Business Valuation.
