Background
James R. (Jim) Park, ASA has been engaged in the valuation of privately held businesses for over 30 years. He has extensive experience in the valuation of companies and partnerships for gift and estate tax purposes, mergers and acquisitions, buy/sell agreements, employee stock option plans, corporation conversions, shareholder disputes and other situations where an independent valuation is needed. The types of entities valued include, but are not limited to, manufacturing operations, wholesale distribution companies, retail stores, commercial construction companies, road paving companies, automotive dealerships, banks, real estate development companies, restaurant companies and service related business such as architectural and engineering firms.
Jim holds a degree in Finance from Texas A&M University and was engaged in the commercial banking industry for 11 years prior to joining MPJ Business Valuations. Jim is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) in the American Society of Appraisers and a co-author of the Comprehensive Guide for the Valuation of Family Limited Partnerships. He is a frequent speaker on valuation topics and served as a course developer and instructor for both the Center for Advanced Valuation Studies and Partnership Profiles. Jim has testified as an expert witness in federal tax court, civil court and bankruptcy court. He and his wife Martha have been married for 35 years and have three adult children.
