Jim Nutter is Managing Director and National Practice Leader for the Machinery & Equipment Practice at Marshall & Stevens Incorporated. He is also actively involved with the Energy & Infrastructure Practice. Mr. Nutter is responsible for the valuation of machinery & equipment, buildings and improvements, and revenue generating facilities.

Mr. Nutter has been in the Machinery & Equipment valuation and consulting profession since 2006. He provides analyses of assets in a great variety of industries including, but not limited to, agriculture and food processing, chemical, corporate and municipal facilities, conventional and renewable energy, entertainment and media, healthcare, hospitality and gaming, manufacturing and distribution, technology, transportation, and shipping. Valuations are performed to assist public and private clients with financing, financial reporting (purchase price allocation and impairment), tax planning and reporting, insurance placement, and disputes. 

Mr. Nutter provides Energy & Infrastructure Practice clients with valuations of conventional and renewable energy generation project valuation for financing (lease, sale leaseback, and tax equity investment), buy/sell consideration, and purchase price allocations.  

Prior to joining Marshall & Stevens in 2009, Mr. Nutter was the President of Equipment Sales and Associate of Appraisals at Micor Media Group, a firm specializing in the valuation of professional audio & video assets.

Mr. Nutter earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science from Loyola University Chicago. Mr. Nutter is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (“ASA”) of The American Society of Appraisers with a designation in Machinery & Technical Specialties – Machinery & Equipment. He has served in multiple leadership roles, including President, of the Chicago Chapter of ASA.
